2016 Bucci Verdicchio Classico Superiore dei Castelli di Jesi
Jeff Degner, CSW | Certified Sommelier, Court of Master SommeliersIf you look at a map of Italy, the Le Marche region is the mid-calf area of the boot. The Bucci family have been making wine in Le Marche for over 300 years. The Verdicchio grape is the most important and most planted varietal of that region and the Bucci family is synonymous with that grape. Ampelio Bucci will use newer techniques while maintaining the family’s historical presence in each bottle. The wine is a pale straw color with hints of wet stone, peach and honey on the nose. This is a classic style of Verdicchio from one of the best producers of that region.

Wine Enthusiast
90This wine’s chamomile, acacia flower, yellow stone fruit and honey aromas lift out of the glass. The round, medium-bodied palate delivers ripe apricot, yellow peach and nectarine flavors while an almond note lingers on the tangy finish.
Vinous
91“Pale straw-green. Refined aromas of lime, minerals and jasmine. Enters very tough and rigid, delivering a very lemony calcaire-like bite, but opens with aeration to become rounder and softer, featuring strong notes of almond, green apple and powdered rocks. The finish is long and vibrant. Made with organic grapes”.
